Host: Welcome to The Afterschool Club and Thank you for your coming!

Interviewee: You’re welcome! Thank you for inviting me.

Host: So let’s start the interview. Our first question is “When did you go back to Hong Kong?”

Interviewee: Just a few weeks ago, around the end of November.

Host: What is happening there?

Interviewee: In Hong Kong right now, there are small protests around the city but they have calmed down since the big protests that you have seen on the news. In the past few months, more people cared about what happened. The protest has become larger in scale and more citizens have joined the protest.

Host: So, why do you think it happens?

Interviewee: I think this happens because the people of Hong Kong want to have democracy and don’t want to be ruled by the communist regime. On the other hand, Hong Kong is one of the best economical cities in China, which is the strongest reason for China to keep Hong Kong as a part of the country.

Also, according to the joint agreement of China and British, the freedom that people have enjoyed in Hong Kong isn’t permanent. The autonomy will expire in two-thousand forty-seven. After that, the system will change back to communism.

Host: After all these protests happened, how do the protests affect the relationship between China and Hong Kong?

Interviewee: The protests have certainly destroyed the relationship between Hong Kong and China. The relationship before the protest is more likely “one country, two systems”. But, now people are seeking for the democratic system which they hope it will work in Hong Kong. Although it is said to be two systems, the Chinese government didn’t actually do it.

The systems of Hong Kong should be supposedly maintained until two-thousand forty-seven, because of the agreement they had signed with Britain. Now the relationship is really bad. People in Hong Kong who fight for democracy are not satisfied with the present situation of their lack of freedom.
